Placement duration: 11 month placement (expected start July 2023)
Stipend: A stipend of £6,000 will be paid in monthly instalments.

The student will have the opportunity to get involved in all the work of the charity including environmental education work, practical river restoration and conservation work with volunteers (such as tree planting, footpath improvements and wildflower planting), invasive non-native plant control, citizen science work (riverfly sampling), helping at public events, social media (facebook, twitter and instagram) updates, funding bids, river surveying, geographical information system updates (QGIS) and general admin work.

To be a Higher Education (HE) Student Placement with FSC you must be undertaking a UK-based higher education course where a 1-year work placement is a requirement. We are looking for candidates studying towards a degree in Geography, Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Education, or a closely allied discipline.
The role is to support our teaching staff in the delivery of field courses along with supporting other departments with a range of other residential and domestic duties. To be successful we need people who want to work with people, who are enthusiastic about the environment and keen to see that people are taught to understand and respect it better.
We are looking for suitable candidates for our 2023 spring/summer work placement scheme. The scheme will start in April and will run to the end of October 2023. The placement is based at our head office in Hampshire.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain work experience with a leading UK ecological consultancy. Many of our work placements have secured employment with either ourselves or other ecological consultancies/multi-disciplinary companies. Structured training will be offered as part of the placement and will cover field survey work including bat, great crested newt and reptile surveys as well as office-based tasks such as ecological report writing, sound analysis and desk studies.
