Job Responsibilities:
Facilitating Forest School sessions for primary school children in group of about 15.
Majority of time is spent doing: supporting the children in their learning and exploration in the Forest School area - helping them tie knots or climb trees, light fires, hunt mini-beasts, whittling and all sorts of other activities
Time is spent mainly outdoors
Qualifications needed: Forest School Leader Level 3 (which requires some experience of working with children)
Additional training: DBS check and 16 Hour Outdoor First Aid Certificate -needs renewing every 3 years
Skills needed: Patience, love of working with children, flexibility
Advice to anyone looking at similar roles:
Be prepared to work outside in the winter and get muddy and for the children to get muddy. Get good waterproofs for yourselves and the children. Once you decide to go ahead and get trained, join the Forest School Association as they provide support and guidance and CPD as well as advertising roles
