The Heathlands Reunited project (HeRe), led by the South Downs National Park Authority, aims to expand, create new and improve existing heathland to cover an area greater than 1,200 football pitches. Heathland covers just one per cent of the South Downs National Park, mostly separated into ‘islands’ where isolated plants and animals are far more vulnerable to local extinction.
We are seeking a highly enthusiastic and organised person with a keen interest in biodiversity to lead on our practical habitat management works across the borough.
This is very much a hands on practical position but there is also a small amount of IT skills required to carry out the role. The borough of Basingstoke and Deane has a range of wildlife-rich habitats including ancient woodlands, calcareous grasslands and heathland.
