Overview

Plantlife is the global voice for plants and fungi. The charity works to enhance, protect, restore and celebrate the wild plants and fungi that are essential to all life on earth. Biodiversity loss is now the fastest it’s ever been and Plantlife’s work has never been more vital. Plantlife champions and accelerates conservation action, working with people at the heart of a global network and local communities. Plantlife's mission is to secure a world rich in plants and fungi, for the benefit of people and the planet.

Their priority work in the UK are on species in Grassland and Temperate Rainforest areas. Plantlife initiated No Mow May, Let it Bloom June, National Meadows Day, Waxcap Watch and they developed Rapid Rain Rainforest Assessment. They also provide advice and guidance on Biodiversity Net Gain, and have been designated by DEFRA as responsible body for conservation covenant. Globally, Plantlife is the co-creator of Important Plants Areas (IPAs) and currently hold the secretariat for the Global Strategy for Fungal Conservation.
