And the winner is…..

The CIEEM Award ceremony took place yesterday (28 June) at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens and Katie, our Training Directory Co-ordinator was lucky enough to attend and present the CJS sponsored, CIEEM Higher Education Programme of the Year Award to Edge Hill University for their MSc Conservation Management.

Since 2007 85% of course graduates secured employment within 12 months after completing the course with 89% of these within relevant graduate jobs. Those are some statistics!

We know how competitive the market is and how practical skills give a candidate the edge during job applications. It’s great, therefore, that this course has a strong emphasis on practical and field work equipping graduates with strong skill portfolios.

The CIEEM Higher Education Programme of the Year Award is a valuable opportunity for further education institutions, delivering a programme related to ecology or environmental management, to showcase their high standards of teaching and receive formal endorsement of their work in promoting employability and entrepreneurship within their programme(s). This is awarded for demonstrable evidence of the way students are prepared for their future careers in ecology and/or environmental management, particularly for examples of innovation and those that go above and beyond the national requirements.

Congratulations must also go to the commended entries from Oatridge Campus, Scotland’s Rural College and Kingston Maurward College, who was also last year's winner.

Ecology and Environmental Management are integral parts of caring for our natural world and to ensure this continues long into the future we are delighted to sponsor the Higher Education Programme of the Year Award, helping promote excellence in the teaching of this complex subject to give the next generation of rangers, ecologists, wildlife warriors, landscape managers and environmental educators a good understanding of all things ecological and to make the best start on their careers.
