Hampshire County Council Are Recruiting Rights of Way Officers Within the Countryside Service
We are looking to recruit 3 new Rights of Way Officers to come onboard. Joining an Area Access Team, you will undertake the direct management of public rights of way, access to areas of open country and other forms of public access to the countryside including the Service’s own sites. You will ensure that this access is protected, maintained, developed and promoted to a high standard in accordance with the Countryside Access Plan priorities, within budget and in line with the legislation.
The job has a wide programme of work, which includes the management of an Area Access Ranger Team. Working closely with the Area Countryside Access Manager, you will develop, plan and deliver your own work programme to attain high quality access along the rights of way network. With significant experience of rights of way work, you will also have a good understanding of law including the Highways Act 1980 and Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The role includes frequent travelling throughout the area inspecting public rights of way, working with colleagues in the countryside and liaising with members of the public/landowners/stakeholders/contractors. The successful applicant will require a full driving license, use of a vehicle and be able to fulfil the travel requirements of the role.
