Job Purpose Summary

You will be working as part of a dispersed team delivering measures to support farmers and other land managers deliver low carbon, nature positive, and sustainable land management. This work supports the Scottish Government’s commitment to tackle the twin global emergencies of climate change and biodiversity loss. Scottish Government’s Agri-environment Climate Scheme (AECS) is currently one of the main financial support mechanisms enabling land managers to deliver on biodiversity and climate mitigation in rural Scotland. It is a competitive scheme to which land managers must apply and is administered jointly by SG Rural Payments and Inspections Division (RPID) and NatureScot. NatureScot assesses applications relating to Protected Area features (SSSI and European sites), deer management and peatland restoration.

You should have an HND or equivalent qualification in an environmental discipline or rural land management. Alternatively you should be able to demonstrate relevant experience in a natural environment discipline.

You will be based at one of our offices, or be a homeworker, use digital working practices, and minimise travel in accordance with NatureScot’s low carbon operating procedures. However, you will, in some circumstances, be expected to work with colleagues and applicants from across Scotland, which will involve some travel and may involve overnight stays.
