Field Assistant

Taylor Wildlife have a number of vacancies for seasonal short-term Field Assistants.

All positions involve carrying out field surveys in the Scottish uplands. These will primarily be habitat and peatland surveys but where experience allows, there will be opportunity to undertake bird and butterfly surveys. Accommodation is provided for the successful candidates.  

The successful candidate will have:

  • Good upland plant ID skills.
  • Experience with botanical surveys (e.g. Phase 1 habitat surveys).
  • A good level of physical fitness. 
  • Excellent attention to detail.

Although not essential, it would be useful to have:

  • A full driving licence.
  • 4x4 experience.
  • GIS experience (particularly QGIS).
  • Knowledge of upland management techniques.
  • Technical report writing experience.
  • Practical experience of conservation/field survey work.
  • Protected species licence(s).
