Education and Engagement Officer

Salary Details: in the region of £30,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.

Job Term: Full-time 37.5 hour week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join our team as an Education and Engagement Officer.

The Foundation runs a highly successful education programme, principally based on our “Go Wild for Fish” initiative for schools and our angling development initiative “TweedStart”. We have most recently opened our citizen science resource, the Ian Gregg Rivers Academy, at our headquarters, through which we deliver the Anglers Riverfly Monitoring Initiative. We have been accepted as partners of “Inspire Learning”, the multi-award-winning education transformation programme in the Scottish Borders.

The Officer will predominately work with primary schools but may also have some contact with higher and further education establishments. They will liaise with relevant partners, agencies, and members of the public to help raise awareness of the River Tweed and the central role it plays within the catchment. The job will involve networking with key organisations, developing educational materials and training programmes, delivering sessions and events.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are self-motivated and are passionate about improving the environment and engaging with young people and the wider community through environmental education. They will be an excellent communicator, able to demonstrate the successful delivery of projects, with a background in the environmental or educational sector. A knowledge of the Tweed catchment, angling and/or land and water management is desirable.
