We are looking for someone who is passionate about engaging people with nature to develop and lead volunteer activities on our regionally important wetland nature reserve. As our Swale and Ure Washlands Project Officer, based at Nosterfield in North Yorkshire, you will work with trustees and ecologists leading volunteers on a range of seasonal practical conservation tasks to manage the site. You will be an experienced project manager who can identify opportunities, work without supervision and inspire others. You will also have a track record of leading practical tasks drawing on your extensive practical knowledge of managing conservation sites.
You will be responsible for creating and supervising a graduate training programme as well as developing opportunities for families at the reserve as we work to deliver our Restoring the Swale and Ure Washlands project supported by a Green Recovery Challenge Fund award.
Applicants must be educated to degree level or equivalent and be able to demonstrate experience in a similar role. A passion for nature conservation along with excellent communication, organisational and IT skills are essential. You must also have a full driving licence and be able to take up weekend/flexible working hours at particular times of the year.
The Green Recovery Challenge Fund is funded by Defra and is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.

Salary: £28 – £32,000 based on experience

Location: Home based but the majority of time will be spent at Nosterfield Nature Reserve, Nosterfield Quarry, Bedale, North Yorkshire, DL8 2QZ
Additional Information: Laptop and mobile phone will be supplied. Mileage in addition to the normal journey from home to the reserve will be paid at a rate of 45p per mile.
