Job Purpose
Working alongside our Conservation and Environment team, especially the Farming Officers, to support the Northumberland National Park land management community, to engage with new opportunities arising from the Government’s Agricultural Transition Programme linked to the 25 Year Environment Plan. Developing strands of work and coordinating the delivery of the Farming in Protected Landscapes programme and other similar national funding programmes.
To co-ordinate and manage the Defra funded Farming in Protected Landscapes programme on behalf of Northumberland National Park Authority;
To further develop programmes and partnership working and to influence key organisations and stakeholders to deliver work within the National Park in support of the shared Vision of the current NPA Management Plan.
Working alongside our team of Farming and Rural Enterprise Officers, work through existing land manager networks, and develop new groups, to bring land managers together from across the National Park to encourage co-operation and knowledge transfer. Promote a desire amongst these networks to deliver a landscape scale approach to sustainable land management which may include access to existing agri-environment funding and new sources such as the Government’s new Environmental Land Management scheme.
To build farm resilience to issues such as Brexit and climate change and increases the understanding of changing policy, particularly with regard to a focus on natural capital, nature recovery and payment for public goods.
