The River Dee Trust

River Restoration Coordinator

We have a new and exciting position available as a River Restoration Coordinator. This role will oversee the delivery of an innovative and wide-reaching multi-million-pound initiative recently launched on the Dee, Save the Spring.

The 20-year programme is aimed at saving threatened species including the river’s iconic Atlantic salmon. It will also reduce the impacts of floods and droughts, benefitting all wildlife and communities, and it will involve the use of cutting-edge science.

The programme is supported by the leading organisations: The River Dee Trust, Dee District Salmon Fishery Board and Atlantic Salmon Trust. The Coordinator will be employed by the River Dee Trust, with hybrid-working from our River Office in Dinnet, Aberdeenshire.

With support from specialists in all the partner organisations, as well as partnerships in development with two universities, this role will coordinate a Source to Sea approach and ensure delivery of linked work packages. This will include strategic landscape-scale habitat restoration, novel conservation translocation methods to boost numbers of the most vulnerable genetic components of the salmon population, investigating pressures as migrating salmon transition between the river and sea, monitoring, and significant engagement and communication with our stakeholders.
