Our District Volunteers help our District Organisers and Garden Openers to open private gardens to the public for charity. This is a varied role that includes helping at gardens with admissions, teas, signage and car parking on the day of the opening, as well as publicity beforehand. It's a great opportunity to support different charities, build new relationships, develop your gardening knowledge and visit beautiful gardens. Are you a passionate vegan, over 18 and UK based? We have an ever-growing Community Network of vegans just like you, who have a passion to volunteer and promote veganism where they live. Every month, our Network choose from a range of outreach tasks. These could include town centre stalls, writing to a councillor or MP, sharing our campaigns on social media or contacting local businesses. You're in control of how much or how little you do. We also provide our volunteers with leaflets, banners and workshops so that they are equipped to make the biggest impact possible. I Bike is a successful project delivered by Sustrans, enabling more people to choose cycling, walking and wheeling instead of the car. As a volunteer, you would support your I Bike Officer with outdoor activities for pupils at local schools. You might be helping with led walks and bike rides, scooter sessions, safety checking bikes, teaching beginner cyclists and more. You don’t need any cycling experience; we’re looking for people who enjoy being outside and helping children and young people to learn new skills and become more active. We currently operate I Bike in Aberdeenshire, Aberdeen*, Dumfries*, Edinburgh & Lothians, East Dunbartonshire, Fort William and Perth*. *In these areas we also have volunteering opportunities with adults cycling and walking groups. You will receive mentoring and training and please talk to us about any specific requirements we can help you with in order to enable you to volunteer. Come and help us monitor our conservation grazing flock at our Cander Moss reserve near Kirkmuirhill, South Lanarkshire. As part of good animal husbandry we are looking for volunteers to provide a daily check on our flock and to report any issues. Opportunities are flexible and will take up to 1 hour per visit. BUT You should be available for one shift per week. Own transport, some basic fitness and commitment to the project are the most important aspects. We are excited to be launching our first Youth Panel and applications are now open. We hope to inspire young people to join the team and help influence our work. We want to connect these young people with our dragonfly hotspots so they may have the opportunity to volunteer and connect with their local wetlands. We are looking for young people who are passionate about insects (especially dragonflies!) and wetlands, who want to join a small charity and have a big impact for dragonfly conservation! You should apply if you: Are between 16 and 24; Are passionate about nature (don’t worry you don’t need to know everything about dragonflies!); Enjoy being a part of a team; Can commit to attending online meetings; Want to inspire other young people to connect with dragonflies.
