The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) has recently announced the winner of their Young Conservationist of the Year Award (YCOTY) 2021. Morganne McQueen, from Edinburgh, won the wildlife conservation charity’s award in February for showing passion, enthusiasm and commitment to the natural world.
Morganne, who attends George Heriot's School in the capital, was nominated for her work as a youth leader on RZSS’s Conservation Action Team as well as her successful completion of the charity’s Science Summer School and Zoo Studies courses.
Beccy Angus, Head of Discovery and Learning at RZSS said, “The Young Conservationist of the Year Award is an amazing way for us to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of young people and their contribution to our wild world. Morganne’s commitment to wildlife conservation and science will help inspire others to connect with nature and protect threatened species and we are delighted to be able to recognise this.”
