Introduction to Blacksmithing

If you want to learn traditional skills, use your hands, and create something wonderful, this one-day introduction to blacksmithing is for you! We'll use a charcoal-powered forge (using charcoal we make on site), and you'll learn some key basic techniques, including lighting and maintaining the fire, tapering, bending, and twisting.

Introduction to Green Woodworking

Throughout the day, you'll learn about the characteristics of different species of wood and then get hands-on with a range of traditional hand tools, including draw knives and axes. The emphasis is on helping you learn basic skills which you can then develop for more complex projects.

Carve your own spoon

Learn how to make your very own wooden spoon with an axe, knife and spoon knife, following the sloyd tradition. You'll be guided through every step of the process from choosing your wood to designing your spoon, learning the tools and techniques you need as you go.

Make a berry basket
