Volunteer Roles

JOB: Primate Care volunteer

BE4: N / A

LOC: Looe, Cornwall, UK

PAY: Accommodation

FOR: Wild Futures

We host up to 10 volunteers at a time, all year round, in shared accommodation. Short-term placements run from 2-8 weeks & long-term for up to 3 months. No special quals are needed, we just ask for volunteers to be enthusiastic & hard-working with a general concern for animals & the environment. You need to be over 18 & have a good working knowledge of the English language. Although volunteers do not work directly with the monkeys (hand off policy), they do help make sure that things run smoothly.  Volunteers help to clean the enclosures, prepare the monkey’s food, create enrichment items & take part in workshops hosted by the staff about species, diet, medication & much more. Volunteers need to be hard working, have initiative & enthusiasm for the tasks asked. A lot of the role is cleaning so please ensure you are committed before applying.  ASK: Please contact: volunteer@wildfutures.org

FOR: Wild Futures

You will assist in all parts of work at Wild Futures Monkey Sanctuary. There will be general maintenance work of the site. You will also receive education talks by staff members on each species, the organisation, darting, medication, anatomy etc. Assisting at the café & children’s workshop will add variety to the volunteer’s day & ensure they interact with the general visiting public during opening hours (weekends, & half- term / summer holidays). The work at the Sanctuary is hard & physically demanding so volunteers must be fit & able. Min 2 week commitment. *Some funded opportunities for UK residents & non-UK residents (EU only). Travel, food & accommodation are free, you will also receive about £160 a month as pocket money. If you are not eligible for the funded placements we have non-funded placements too, however we ask for a £40 a week contribution for food & accommodation.
