Key tasks are to assist in the development of a new brand identity for the nursery and working with creative agencies pitching for build of a new website; after which to manage content. To help develop and organise the onsite and digital events calendar. To help work on fundraising campaigns for the charity for a large expansion project as part of the 25th Anniversary. To gain experience for a career in horticulture, or the charitable sector, working within the horticultural operations team at a well-established social enterprise nursery. A registered charity for 25 years, Mires Beck provides horticultural therapy training to adults with learning difficulties. We run a successful wholesale and onsite retail business, specialising in plants and conservations habitat species. We are expanding and looking for a 2-3 day a week person to catalogue items, complete records for plant traceability, follow orders from the garden centres and update teams on information needed in the production and preparation process. JOB: Volunteer Horticultural Therapy Assistant

An opportunity to support our staff helping to teach horticultural skills and associated craft work to adults with learning difficulties. We also have a specialist unit on site for adults with more acute learning disability which has more one to one training. The volunteers work within set teams which include; the gardening team, plant prep' and production teams, tree nursery and Anniversary Garden unit. The work is vital in helping the trainees gain confidence in being part of a commercial nursery and being able to also interact with the public who visit for retail sales. We provide a full day care service and volunteers also help the trainees to socialise during the lunch break and relaxation period. The estate team manage our 14 acre conservation site comprising of a commercial plant & tree nursery, 5 acre woodland & soon to be wildflower meadow open to the public, working with adults with learning difficulties. We also maintain an unadopted access road to the nursery which runs alongside the beck the nursery was named after. As part of the charity's aim to bring life skills & improve social abilities, the trainees work with staff & volunteers who make up the team & we are always open to welcome new people to our nursery.
