JOB: Volunteer Reserves Trainee

FOR: Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust

Start Tuesday 6 August, 3 days per week (22.5 hours). An opportunity to gain experience & training in practical conservation work on over 40 different nature reserves to further a career in conservation & make a positive contribution to the conservation of Hertfordshire & Middlesex’s habitats & species. You will assist the Reserves Team with their daily reserve work & work closely with volunteers. There will be opportunities to undertake other aspects of reserve management such as surveying species, livestock husbandry, guided walks & helping with events. *You will pick up an allocated van & travel to sites across Herts & Middlesex. You’ll be a committed conservationist educated to degree level or equiv in a biological / environmental science & ideally have some experience of practical habitat management. A driving licence is required & the post is subject to a DBS check. Training will include NPTC chainsaw units 201-3, Brushcutter, First Aid, Identiplant as well as in-house training in habitat management, ecological surveying & monitoring, tree safety surveying & management planning.
