JOB: Braintree Local Group Volunteers

FOR: Essex Wildlife Trust

Committee Chairperson You will act as a spokesperson for the local group, chair the quarterly meetings & respond for the local group where required. The group also organise fundraising events & local walks & talks. It would be an advantage if you have a good knowledge of the local area & are used to dealing with people from all backgrounds. Volunteer Warden Working independently, you will visit the site on at least a weekly basis to act as the Trust’s eyes & ears on the reserve. You will be supported by our North West Area Reserves team who will be on hand to provide you with advice & guidance. You will patrol & inspect the reserve & deal with any problems as appropriate & carry out yearly site audits & feed this back to the team. Suitably fit to work outside & able to walk across uneven terrain & be comfortable working on your own. Outdoor Events Co-ordinator Help manage, co-ordinate & promote the programme of outdoor events on behalf of the Trust. ASK: Further information: volunteering@essexwt.org.uk

Are you a member of Essex Wildlife Trust? Would you like to volunteer in your local area? Our local groups are small teams of active local members of the EWT who want to get involved further. Local Groups members can help raise funds for EWT core functions, they can help with delivery of magazines & newsletters, they can help manage our reserves & they can help organise local talks & events to engage people in their area with the work of EWT. Are you good with people? Do you have a few hours to spare helping in our visitor centre? We are seeking centre volunteers to lend a hand, welcome people to the centres, make cups of tea & help with the retail outlets as required. Absolutely no wildlife knowledge is required but enthusiasm is essential, all the funds raised in the centres will help contribute to our on the ground conservation work. Overview: one four hour shift a week; welcoming people to the visitor centre; making teas & coffees; assisting in the retail units, helping restock, tidying & selling goods. Langdon Visitor Centre is one of eleven visitor centres owned by the Trust and is set in a stunning nature reserve of 461 acres of woodland, meadows, lakes and former plotland gardens. Langdon Nature Reserve is the largest inland reserve managed by Essex Wildlife Trust and occupies some of the highest land in the county, has some commanding views and offers miles of excellent walks, where an abundance of wildlife can be enjoyed. A beautiful wildlife garden is situated directly behind the visitor centre. We are looking for an intern to ideally commit to volunteering for 4-6 months, one day a week. You will be enthusiastic, keen to learn and get involved in all areas of the centre incl general till work, inputting goods, ordering, restocking, talking to the public, cleaning and tidying the centre.
