Dorset Wildlife Trust is seeking someone with a passion for wildlife to play a vital role in advocating nature. The postholder will play key roles in engaging with decision making in Dorset on planning applications and policy, aiming to secure a net gain for wildlife, and in ensuring Dorset’s Local Wildlife Sites (SNCI) are seen as crucial to the planning evidence base, and where possible are monitored and management advice for owners made available.

JOB: Community Conservation Voluntary Placement

LOC: Urban Wildlife Centre, Corfe Mullen

PAY: Travel expenses from the Urban Wildlife Centre to other DWT sites when required.

FOR: Dorset Wildlife Trust

3-4 days a week over 6 months from July 2019. This role would be suitable for a student industrial placement full time. You will be assisting with Dorset Wildlife Trust's community engagement and conservation work in east Dorset including at our Brownsea Island and Living Seas Visitor Centres. Tasks will also include assisting with our work with people with physical / mental health issues; assisting with social media, website and other publicity; helping with campaigns and conservation projects. There will be opportunities to get involved with other aspects of our work, including practical work parties. This opportunity would suit a student or young person, with an interest in marine conservation, the marine environment and / or environmental education. The placement is available from April, throughout the summer, is unpaid and involves working one weekend per month. However, there would be the opportunity to extend this if the placement wishes to be involved in further weekend activities. Own transport and accommodation are essential.
