JOB: Greeter Volunteer at Red Bull Welcome Station

1 -2 days / week. This is an opportunity to be the 'face' of the Canal & River Trust, playing a key role in the enjoyment of the visitor experience & ensuring visitors leave with a greater understanding & affinity to the waterways. It will involve being on hand to talk to visitors, increasing their understanding of the exhibits, enlightening them to the work that the Canal & River Trust carries out & informing them about the what, where, when & why of your local waterway, surrounding area & the charity as a whole. We're not looking for people who are experts in the nation's waterways, but we are looking for people who are friendly & approachable & know who to ask if they don't know the immediate answer. If you've got a passion & interest in the waterways, you can share it with others or if you enjoy pointing people towards the local pub or chippy, you'll no doubt be able to do this as well. JOB: Goytre Wharf Visitor Centre Greeter

1 day per week min. This is an opportunity to be the ‘face’ of the Canal & River Trust and the Monmouthshire, Brecon & Abergavenny Canal Trust at our partnership Visitor Centre at Goytre Wharf . You will play a key role in the enjoyment of the visitor experience and ensuring visitors leave with a greater understanding and affinity to the waterways. It will involve being on hand to talk to visitors, increasing their understanding of the work that both Trusts carry out and inform them about the what, where, when and why of the beautiful Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.  If you’ve got a passion and interest in the waterways, enjoy talking to people and sharing local knowledge then you will find this a great opportunity to get involved. JOB: Anderton Boat Lift Event Steward

2 - 3 days / month We are looking for volunteers to help out at events that take place in or around Anderton Boat Lift, activities range from help setting up and clear down, craft days, fun days, safety rangering. We are looking for volunteers to either lead or support others on some of our event days, these will be spread throughout the year and will vary in nature. Your participation can be arranged around personal commitments, if you are available on any of the event days then fantastic, if not you may be available for a future event. JOB: Explorers Education Volunteer - East London

If you enjoy working with children and want to inspire them to learn about our local heritage, wildlife and landscape, join our team of Explorer Education Volunteers based in the Lee Valley in East London! We host school and group visits to the waterside, broadening learning through hands-on activities, workshops and events. We also deliver within schools, providing resource-rich learning opportunities. You will need some previous experience of hands-on learning with children, or a strong desire to gain experience in this area, and be able to volunteer flexibly to respond to group requests, committing to at least 3 or 4 days a month (usually between 9am - 3.30pm with at least two weeks' notice). JOB: Explorers Education Volunteer - Naburn

3 - 4 days a month. Join our brand new team of education volunteers based at Naburn Lock, on the River Ouse south of York. We lead school, Cub scout and Brownie groups on waterway visits as well as running sessions in the classroom. All of our sessions are designed to inspire young people in science and geography as well as the heritage and wildilfe of the area. We are looking for volunteers who have: previous experience of working with children; the confidence to talk to, and deliver workshops with groups of children; the ability to enthuse young people through practical activities; the flexibility to volunteer in different locations, working independently and as part of a team. We provide you with resources and full training on how to lead groups of children at this specific location as well as in a more traditional classroom environment.
