Exciting opportunity for a Greenspace Ranger to join the team to identify opportunities and encourage volunteering in a wide range of Council greenspaces. They will assist with community engagement on greenspace projects and themes and implement an agreed programme of greenspace tasks to provide opportunities for community involvement and management on greenspace sites and path networks. The Ranger will also undertake greenspace site condition inspections for repair programmes and safety purposes including tree and water safety inspections. This is a permanent post and uniform and vehicle will be provided.

You must have a valid UK driving licence as this post requires you to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.

You must have a minimum qualification of HND, or equivalent, for responsibilities to be undertaken or at least significant equivalent experience in a work related discipline.

The Council is currently progressing with a hybrid working model offering access to office working on some days/when required. Initially this is on a temporary basis with longer term options becoming available in future. Requirements for Greenspace Rangers posts

Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum HND or equivalent for responsibilities to be undertaken or significant equivalent experience in work related discipline
  • Experience of working for a minimum of 2 years within a local authority or similar background in the areas relevant to the post
  • Proven experience in the areas relevant to the post
  • Knowledge and understanding of the voluntary sector and successfully delivering environmental projects
  • Proven ability to deal with a wide cross section of the public in relation to customer requests and expectations
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Excellent work planning, time management and organisation skills

  • Committed to providing an excellent service
  • Must be pleasant and courteous at all times.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, respond to queries and generally deal with all customers (either internal or external) in an appropriate manner.
  • A knowledge of undertaking inspections
  • A knowledge of conducting meetings

  • Current full driving licence.
  • Ability to cope with the physical and emotional demands of the post and attend on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weathers
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to undertake training)
