The Role:

Hampshire Countryside Service are looking for a Ranger to join the North Sites Team responsible for the management of Yateley Common, Castle Bottom NNR, Shortheath Common and Broxhead Common amongst others. Working in some of the most picturesque and important wildlife habitats in Hampshire, you'll help make a difference for wildlife in North Hampshire in the face of the biodiversity crisis.

You will work as part of a highly skilled team, with the predominant task of carrying out practical habitat management work on a day-to-day basis to fulfil our agri-environment scheme objectives. Your main duties will include cutting scrub, with chainsaws or brushcutters, and the management of arisings using a tractor.

We also undertake other operations including the maintenance and installation of site infrastructure, remedial tree work and other site management work which you will be part of.

The work is physically demanding and requires you to work outside in sometimes difficult conditions. This role requires someone who has experience in practical estates maintenance and management work. Ideal applicants will be qualified and proficient in tasks such as tree felling, scrub removal, stump treatment, strimming, brushcutting and tractor driving.

You also must have a driving license and may need to use of their own vehicle for work purposes. Training will be offered to the successful candidate.
