We are the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, an organisation that protects, enhances and promotes the immense beauty, wildlife and character of the Yorkshire Dales.

We are looking for a Woodland Project Officer and there has never been a more exciting time to work in woodlands, as we have an ambitious new Dales Woodland Strategy to implement.

The role is full-time, fixed term to March 2023 and based at our Grassington office near Skipton.

The Benefits

Salary of £26,511 - £32,233 per annum

The Role

We are looking for someone who can help farmers and landowners to create new woodland, accessing the range of funding now available.

The role is responsible for developing and, where appropriate, implementing woodland creation schemes in compliance with the terms and conditions of external funding support,

The key elements of the role involve:

  • Scoping out woodland creation opportunities;
  • Conducting site surveys;
  • Working with applicants to develop high-quality woodland creation proposals;
  • Draft detailed specifications and tender documents; and
  • Oversee and/or manage delivery of works and arrangements for maintenance of approved projects.

About You

This is a busy role involving interaction with a wide range of people, so you will need the ability to communicate, negotiate and build relationships with various stakeholders.

An experience of implementing and monitoring woodland creation plans and programmes of work is essential together with a professional approach to work with an ability to find pragmatic solutions.

Your will need to have a full driving licence, due to the travelling and visiting of sites around the National Park that is a key part of the role.
