The Defence Training Estate in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall comprises ten sites that range from the upland moorland of Dartmoor, to coastal dune systems on the north coasts of Devon and Cornwall, to woodlands in the Somerset Levels. It is not just one of the most important military training areas, it also includes some of the most highly designated nature conservation sites in the UK, historic landscapes of national significance and iconic countryside with high levels of recreational access. This role presents an opportunity to work in extraordinary landscapes, liaising with farming tenants, military personnel and other stakeholders to deliver a safe and effective training area that complies with, or goes beyond, all statutory environmental obligations. We also require support with protected species surveys, especially bats, throughout the region.
