Path Technician

About Hamiltons:

We are currently looking to expand our team with hard working and enthusiastic individuals.

Hamiltons is a civil contractor that specialises in footpath builds, rural access routes, mountain tracks and habitat restoration.

The role of Path Technician involves constructing aggregate footpaths, building water management features using stone or timber, helping transport materials to site and landscaping. On the job training will be provided.

Our clients to date include the likes of National Trust, Forestry Land and Scotland, Ulster Wildlife, Woodlands Trust, Mournes Heritage Trust, Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland, Nevis Partnership and Newry, Mourne & Down District Council.

Essential attributes:

  • High level of physical fitness. A walk up a mountain could be our commute to work before completing a full days labour so candidates must have the stamina and endurance for this.
  • Resilience. We work in remote locations, exposed to the elements often working at high altitude so be prepared to work in wet and cold conditions.

Desirable:

  • Experience in upland path construction/habitat restoration or as a labourer is advantageous however training will be given
  • CPCS Card Holder - 360 Excavator
  • First Aider
  • Full driving license

Working patterns:

We work across mainland UK and Ireland so working away from home is common.

Our typical working patterns are:

  • 2 weeks away, 1 week at home when working in Ireland (weekend inbetween are days off)
  • Monday to Thursday working if on a Scotland/UK Mainland contract.

Position:

  • Day rate negotiable depending on experience
  • Accommodation paid for when working away
  • Mileage allowance if required to travel to work locations
