The Gardens Dept are responsible for maintaining around 250 acres of land at Wellington College's 400 acre site. This includes formal gardens, lawn areas, trees, woodlands and lakes. In addition there is a heathland and SSSI that is managed in consultation with Natural England. There is also a garden that was at Chelsea Flower Show in 2015 and rebuilt at The College in 2016. The department has a wide and varied role and has invested heavily in the right equipment to carry out their work effectively and efficiently. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining the areas of gardens, lawn areas, wildflower areas and countryside (woods and lakes) as directed by the Senior Gardener. General estate duties will also be from required from time to time such as snow clearing, helping on other teams such as Golf and Grounds and anything else reasonable for the college to ask.
