Job Type: 3 Year Fixed Term Contract

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, though part time hours of 30 hours per week may be considered.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Cairngorms Nature Engagement Officer to join the CNPA and raise awareness and understanding of the outstanding nature and conservation work taking place in the Cairngorms National Park and build a community of supporters for Cairngorms Nature.

The Role:

As the Cairngorms Nature Engagement Officer you will raise awareness of conservation in the Park, sharing knowledge of natural heritage and conservation in the Cairngorms to showcase projects, places and people through various channels, giving you the opportunity to share your passion for these subjects with a wide range of audiences.

You will co-ordinate the delivery of the Cairngorms Nature BIG Weekend, the National Park’s flagship nature event. Working with colleagues and a wide range of external partners you will develop a range of activities and events that that reflect the breadth of conservation work taking place in the Park, meaning you will have real involvement with event organisation and management.

You will work closely with internal colleagues to develop communication plans and content for conservation projects, including website and social media channels. You will also support partners in developing and delivering their own media, project content, events and activities. Affording you opportunities to foster great working relationships with various groups and people both within the CNPA and externally.

About You:

To be considered as our Cairngorms Engagement Officer, you’ll need:

  • Good understanding and experience of species and habitat conservation
  • Good communication skills and ability to work constructively with a wide range of partners;
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm for engaging a wide range of people in nature conservation;
  • Experience of developing and delivering communications plans, campaigns and materials
  • Experience of creating content for a wide range of digital and off-line communications
  • Experience of planning and co-ordinating multi-partner events or festivals.
  • Experience of successful team working;
  • Computer literate - Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, website CMS e.g. wordpress and e-newsletter software e.g. Mailchimp;
  • Full UK driving licence or access to a driver if disability prevents driving..
  • Knowledge of the Cairngorms National Park and its ecology, experience of using social media and digital applications, experience of organising large events and knowledge of Gaelic would be beneficial to your application.
