Closing Date: 3rd October 2021

Interview Dates: Week commencing 11th October

The Great North Wood (GNW) Living Landscape project has been working over the last four years to reconnect and enhance remnant sites of heritage woodland for both wildlife and people across the Forest Hill, Sydenham and Norwood ridge in south London. So far the project has successfully delivered a programme of practical conservation volunteering sessions, community engagement events, and woodland monitoring and surveying to celebrate and enhance thirteen key woodland sites, and adjoining greenspaces, across this part of south London. Recently the Trust has been successful with an application to the Green Recovery Challenge Fund (GRCF) to expand upon the excellent work that has been started by delivering a programme of capital works, volunteering and community engagement activities across twenty-one sites within the Great North Wood area.

You’ll be joining us to help us to plan, deliver and monitor a programme of:

  • Practical woodland conservation sessions for volunteers across Great North Wood sites
  • Woodland capital works, including installing conservation fencing, path building, and tree planting
  • Community events including woodland themed guided walks, talks, and family friendly events
  • Community outreach and engagement events and activities, targeting disadvantaged and under-represented groups, in particular engaging with those communities who aren't currently accessing the Great North Wood
  • Outdoor learning for schools neighbouring Great North Wood sites
  • Wildlife surveying and monitoring

What’s in it for you?

  • Salary: £21,589 per annum pro rata
  • Tenure: Fixed term contract until 31 January 2023
  • 25 days annual leave pro rata plus statutory holidays
  • Access to a free Employee Assistance Scheme to support you inside and outside of work
  • Flexible working policy available to all staff from day one
  • Staff Day once a quarter where you can get involved in conversation work on one of our sites

This project is funded by the Government's Green Recovery Challenge Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England, the Environment Agency and Forestry Commission.
