Can you engage young people to enjoy and care for the Shropshire Hills?

The Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership has secured funds from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for nearly 3 years for a Young Rangers project. Working alongside our partner South Shropshire Youth Forum, you will lead development of two Young Ranger Groups for young people aged 12-16, plan and lead regular outdoor and environmental activities, including regular weekend and/or holiday sessions, camps and trips. You will promote and support broad access and participation by young people in the programme.

You will also work with team members to plan and deliver a young peoples’ leadership programme including a youth working group to work alongside and influence the AONB Partnership. You will manage any specialist contractors and volunteers for whom you are responsible, and any project budgets and required reporting. You will report to the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership and participate in relevant networks including the National Association for AONBs and the Europarc Federation Young Rangers network.

You will have a demonstrable experience in leading and managing environmental/ heritage focused education/youth work and a proven track record of working with partners and stakeholders in a youth outdoors education/learning context.
