Location: Truro, Cornwall
Salary: £24,590 - £31,371
Closing Date: 24th September 2020
It’s a really exciting time to join the Forest for Cornwall (F4C) Team and to be part of the wider Cornwall Team as we move towards Carbon Neutrality by 2030. The F4C Team will be moving forward on a number of fronts over the coming months and you can be part of this and form it. Expanding workstreams include working with farmers, landowners, managers and communities who wish to plant trees and businesses who wish to support our work and creating opportunities across Cornwall to enable the Forest for Cornwall to spread its canopy.
The Project Officer roles will be at the heart of that work. We are looking for at least 3 posts with complementary professional skills and experiences to build and complement our existing team. We are looking particularly for experience relating to giving land management advice which may include forestry, tree and woodland establishment, land management, ecology, environmental project delivery, similar or related work (e.g. environmental community engagement ) or similar fields. Successful candidates will not only have experience in these areas and an awareness of current policy drivers such as the 25 Year Environment Plan and debates around land use - but be excellent at working and communicating with stakeholders and / or clients and have experience with engaging with communities, members of the public and other interested parties. You will have great organisational skills as well as skills and an ability to draw on resources to get things done on time and to budget.
These roles are being recruited as a result of the significant interest in the Forest 4 Cornwall and active support from partners. Initially these posts are being recruited to the end of March 2022 but we anticipate and hope that these roles can be extended subject to ongoing funding being secured. We will update at interview.
Critically we want people who are creative, responsive, adaptable and great team players – who can help to make F4C an exemplar and a legacy for our residents and our ambitions for a Carbon Neutral Cornwall. We want enthusiasm and passion combined with professional ability.
Those who are successful will join a currently small but expanding team that sits within the wider Cornwall Environment Service – a great team covering many disciplines, creating strategic programmes with partners (for example the Nature Recovery Network) and managing our own assets across Cornwall – including beaches, Countryside sites, Public Spaces and our tree assets.
If you feel you have the right skills and or experience, the aptitude and enthusiasm. please apply now. We look forward to welcoming our new team members.
