Senior Project Officer – SOS: Somerset

A unique opportunity to join a successful and growing conservation charity!

Senior Project Officer – SOS: Somerset
Salary £26,000 per annum

The Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) is looking for a full-time Senior project officer to deliver conservation activities primarily around South Somerset as part of the Save Our Shrills: Somerset project.

Your primary role will be to work and collaborate with stakeholders, farmers, landowners and organisations to create, restore and maintain joined up habitat across the project area that is suitable for Shrill carder bees and other pollinators providing both advice and practical support. Via walks, talks and workshops, you will raise awareness of bumblebee declines, their identification and monitoring, and how to manage land sensitively for them.

You will have experience of working with farmers and other land managers, and knowledge or experience of landscape scale habitat conservation and management. You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic and have good knowledge of pollinators and their habitats. You will have excellent communication skills, and be able to build effective relationships with a wide range of people including volunteers.

An understanding of the ecology and conservation of the Shrill carder bee is highly desirable.

The position is home based in the South West (ideally within an hour of South Somerset). Frequent travel throughout the project area required.

Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details of the role.
