The Stonemason Assistant will work as part of the stonemasonry team for Gardens and Grounds with the aim of providing a flexible stonemasonry maintenance service to the University.
What will you be doing?
The stonemasonry team have the goal of enhancing a safe and aesthetically pleasing grounds enabling teaching, learning and research to take place in a well-cared for, safe, tidy and pleasant environment.
The Assistant will work alongside a Stonemason to maintain a number of university walls (mainly natural stone and lime mortar joints) together with some general maintenance works concerning other hard features such as repairs to paving slabs, kerbs, minor pot holes, etc. Tasks are primarily focused on external features such as walls/hard landscaping, not the building fabric.

You are a self-driven, motivated individual, who is a good team player but also able to work alone and unsupervised, using your own initiative when required. Demonstrable experience of working in a similar field and a willingness to progress your career would be an advantage.
