An exciting opportunity has arisen in Countryside Services for a Senior Tree Officer. The District enjoys a high population of trees, but with a changing climate they need our help more than ever. The successful applicant will assist the Council in adapting to the impacts of climate change and meet its corporate objectives and statutory obligations in relation to trees, including advice to planning service (Place) and other Council departments as required.

The key responsibilities for the role of Senior Tree Officer are as follows: 

  • Lead the Tree Team which includes a Tree Officer and Tree Technician
  • Develop and implement a strategy for the management and enhancement of the tree population and woodland in the District. 
  • Develop, maintain and employ systems for collecting, updating and manipulating data using Ezytreev system on the Councilu2019s tree stock and programme, schedule and undertake tree and site inspections and surveys.
  • Preparation, procurement and monitoring of contracts for arboricultural issues, tree works, tree planting and tree care management, and other ad-hoc works, on behalf of Countryside Services, and client departments within The Council, for instance Housing, Place and Highways
  • Liaison where necessary with various other organisations, for instance Forestry England, Natural England and the Environment Agency, on tree-related issues.

Applicants should hold a nationally recognised arboricultural qualification at Level 6 together with substantial post qualification experience in the arboriculture industry.
