About the role
Cormac is proud of the services it provides to Cornwall Council, in preserving and maintaining Countryside sites, multi-use trails, coastal footpaths and public rights of way. To help further improve our standards we are seeking to recruit a skilled person, to join a busy team in Scorrier. This role is for an Operative, working in a team on projects to improve, repair, renovate and construct infrastructure such as wooden bridges, fencing, stiles, boardwalks and footpaths across the Countryside & Environment Service assets. This work is across a variety of sites and locations ranging from coastal footpaths, inland paths, sites and trails, public open spaces.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and skilled person to fulfil the role of an Operative, working as part of a high performing Landscapes team.
Safety is our top priority and you will have the ability to spot hazards, undertake risk assessments and exhibit a working knowledge of health and safety topics appropriate to Landscaping and Construction works. You will be working in the public domain, so you must be professional, friendly and approachable, as you will be representing Cormac across a range of sites and locations, in varying environments, with public and customer interaction. Our services are essential for local communities, therefore a flexible attitude to work demands is essential, along with an innovative approach to overcoming problems and issues.
Extensive experience with the use of heavy plant, such as brushcutter, chainsaw & other land-based machinery are essential along with practical skills & experience of working within the industry. In-house training will also be provided to the right candidate You must be hardy and willing to work in all weather conditions and be in good health and willing to participate in routine health screening as the role is physically demanding, involving manual tasks, lifting, use of machinery and basic maintenance. You will be well organised, keeping tools, PPE and vehicles in a first-class condition. A full UK driving license is essential, with C1 & C2 certification desirable in order to drive larger vehicles with a trailer. Applicants without a driving licence will not be considered.
