Contract: Initially 1 year (potential for extension)
The Shallowford Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Conservation Officer to develop and deliver an ambitious conservation programme for East Shallowford Farm and Butterfly Conservation. Working with groups of youth who visit the farm, reaching out to new networks as well as continuing work with existing community contacts, providing opportunities for skills development and increasing knowledge in conservation forms much of the work. Programme development will include identifying new opportunities for habitat restoration and influencing positive management in the local landscape through land management advice, working with multiple local partnerships.
The Shallowford Trust is a Dartmoor based charity that has worked with disadvantaged youth for over forty years, to engage, encourage and challenge assumed norms catalysing positive change through physical work and practical engagement.
As part of our current Strategic Plan, Green Recovery Funding has been secured through the Heritage Lottery Funding with the aim of developing a programme for long term youth and community engagement in activities to help bio-diversity and practical conservation, to encourage the marsh fritillary butterfly whilst also developing enthusiasm and skills with our youth groups.
A full, clean driving license and car is essential.
