Communities & Wildlife Manager (Bedfordshire)

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic manager to join the Communities & Wildlife Team to give a new strategic direction to the community engagement, environmental education and visitor experience throughout Bedfordshire.

You will be inspiring, leading and managing a small team of passionate staff and volunteers to deliver innovative nature and health & wellbeing engagement opportunities both on our nature reserves and within the local communities.

This full time role includes overseeing our fantastic new project, Bradgers Hill ‘Wilder Future’ funded by National Heritage Lottery Fund, which will deliver innovative engagement opportunities that support and promote health & wellbeing to ethnic minority communities in Dunstable and Luton.

You will oversee the development and delivery of exciting new community engagement opportunities. We want you;

  • To inspire, lead and support a team of passionate staff and volunteers to develop and deliver our engagement, education and health & wellbeing work.
  • To maximise income and source new funding streams into the Wildlife Trust including attracting new Wildlife Trust members.
  • To work closely with the Head of Communities and Wildlife and other Wildlife Trust departments to develop and deliver funded projects engaging with new audiences and increasing the involvement of communities in the enjoyment, learning and participation of the Wildlife Trust.
  • To develop and maintain strong working relationships with other local and statutory organisations including community groups and businesses and working in partnership to enhance nature conservation and developing health & wellbeing opportunities for everybody to get involved.
  • To successfully deliver the Bradgers Hill Wilder Futures (3 year) project and ensure the sustainability of it post funding.

Additional details

  • Salary: £28,228 per annum
  • Interviews: 27th October
  • Location: Office location in Bedfordshire (TBC) and some home working
