Working from a base at River Hamble Country Park and covering sites in Southern Hampshire from Chichester Harbour through to the outskirts of Southampton, you'll assist the team responsible for the day to day management of SSSi designated Woodland, SPA Coastal & Riparian Habitats, Local Nature Reserves and Trails offering access to the Countryside.
Working mainly outside, your duties will include practical habitat management, working with volunteers, interpretation of work, installing and repairing site infrastructure, implementation of work plans, recording tasks and projects carried out on sites. You'll also assist in the monitoring of livestock on grazed sites ensuring welfare and conservation objectives are met.
You'll be able to fulfil the physical requirements of the role and be a good communicator, capable and confident in dealing with queries and concerns from visitors and colleagues. You'll have the ability to work productively as part of a team as well as sometimes working under your own initiative. You'll also need an awareness of statutory health & safety policies and other appropriate legislation.
You'll have a qualification, experience or training in similar conservation related work and relevant qualifications for tree felling, brush cutter use, tractor driving, ride-on mower and pesticide application.
You'll be required to drive a Council vehicle and must hold a current full drivers' licence.
