The Countryside Access Delivery Team provide a modern, responsive and effective maintenance service for the county’s residents and visitors across the 2600-mile public rights of way network.
About the Role
The role offers an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in providing, maintaining and protecting access to the extensive Public Rights of Way network of Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire has for many years delivered this service through a specialist inhouse delivery team. We are now looking to develop that resource and recruit an enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our busy front-line service delivery team. You will join us at a point of positive change in the service with the Countryside Access team recently coming back together under a single line management.
In the role you will assist and support the practical delivery of small-scale projects on the public rights of way network across the county. Operating from our Eynsham based workshop the work will vary hugely from installing fingerposts, clearing vegetation and fallen trees to installing bridges, gates, surfacing and drainage projects as well as supporting the work of volunteer, community and special interest groups in this area.
As a Senior Officer you will report daily to the Countryside Access Delivery Team Leader. You will have at least two years of experience to bring to a team setting with a view to consolidate or further develop knowledge of leading small teams to deliver high quality results across the public rights of way network. You will already be able to demonstrate an ability to think on your feet and respond flexibly to competing demands on your time with a highly practical skill set developed in the field.
Rewards and Benefits
It really is true that every single job role here contributes to bettering the lives of the people in our county - we want to do this for our employees too. We are proud of our strong flexible working culture, including the opportunity for flexibility on working hours and the use of technology to support agile working. We offer some of the very best learning and development opportunities to support your ongoing development.
We have a generous holiday allowance which rises as you remain in employment with us up to 32 days, as well as giving you the option to buy additional holiday. You will also have access to a Local Government Pension Scheme with employer contributions of up to 19.9% of your salary; a range of local and national retail discounts; and a host of enhanced family friendly policies including carers leave and paid time off for volunteering.
