Estate Maintenance Worker / Ghillie

The Reay Forest Estate is recruiting for an Estate Maintenance Worker/Ghillie to join its team.

The Reay Forest Estate, situated in the North West Highlands, is a large, traditional sporting estate famed for its deer stalking and trout and salmon fishing as well as its wild beauty and remote landscapes.

We implement a sustainable approach to the stewardship of the land, property and environment to uphold its designated habitats and support its sporting use.

We are keen to hear from experienced tradespeople, preferably joiner, who have good all-round abilities regardless of your specialism, as our Maintenance Team deliver the highest standards of work within our overall plan and budget, comprising of a wide range of general maintenance tasks.

Working under the direction of the Estate Manager and Estate Chargehand, proactive and reactive maintenance of our properties, lodges and buildings will form a large part of the role, in addition to assisting with road, track, bridge and drainage works. The ideal candidate will also be competent and able to support with boundary and fencing maintenance, collaborating with contractors where appropriate.

In addition, our varied and exciting role will appeal to individuals familiar with and experienced in a Ghillie position. Working though our sporting season in this capacity, you will be preparing for and conducting guest activities such as fishing, shooting and stalking. Further seasonal duties will include driving ATVs, working using hill ponies and undertaking larder work with our Stalkers.

With possession of a time served skill or trade and familiarity of traditional sporting activity, candidates should be strong communicators, hand-on and have a good problem solving mindset – whilst working to the highest of standards. Possession of a valid driving licence is essential in addition to use of various machinery, including ATVs, diggers, dumpers and handheld power tools.

Working full time, including non-office hours to meet the needs of the role and seasonal duties, this permanent opportunity is based in a breathtaking location.
