We’re looking for a Countryside Manager to lead our countryside team and conservation management across the Hinton Ampner Portfolio. This would include the Ludshott Common, Selborne Common and the Hinton Ampner Estate. This is a fixed term contract with most of the work being focus on the land transformation at Hinton Ampner. You’ll have a rare and exciting opportunity to transform the Hinton Ampner Estate, developing a new and sustainable land management system that is fit for the future.

You'll be a key component in the Project Team committed to transforming the land for nature and adapting it for climate resilience through a careful combination of nature recovery, landscape enhancement, conservation management and regenerative agriculture.

The Hinton Ampner – Re-imagining a Hampshire Estate is one the key National Trust Projects that will help deliver on our organisation’s nature and carbon strategy - the opportunities to make things happen are huge!

Interview date: 13 December

You'll lead a team of c6 staff from Hinton Ampner & the Ludshott base including Rangers. You'll have strong links with a multiskilled project-based team who'll be leading the large-scale restoration work.

Working with a range of internal and external consultants with a wide range of specialisms, you’ll enjoy significant development opportunities that help grow your knowledge and confidence in the countryside sector.

The team in the Hinton Portfolio pride themselves on determination and resilience, finding simple solutions to complicated problems. The whole team are excited about what the land transformation will mean for the future of Hinton Ampner.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead your team to deliver the Hinton Ampner – Re-imagining a Hampshire Estate Project
  • Work at a strategic level to lead and deliver our plans to enhance the landscape
  • Lead your team in managing and improving access, delivering conservation projects, and engaging with our visitors outdoors
  • Work in partnership with a range of organisations and stakeholders

Who we're looking for

  • Project and budget management skills
  • Understanding of nature conservation, and public land management (ideally, grassland, woodland habitats, and arable reversion)
  • Regenerative farming and farm contract experience
  • Ability to manage a diverse team
  • Ability to demonstrate where you’ve delivered change and results across a demanding agenda
  • Effective negotiating and influencing skills with stakeholder management and communication skills
