Senior Site Manager - Dungeness & Lydden Valley

Location: Dungeness
Salary: £36,604 - £40,608 per annum

A fantastic opportunity to work with nature. We're looking for a conservationist with a passion for wildlife.

You'll lead a team at one of our newest reserves at Lydden Valley and restore wetland habitats at the RSPB's oldest reserve in Dungeness.

We're more interested in who you are and what you've done; you'll be an inspiring leader who can communicate with a variety of audiences.

The reserves you'll be nurturing are home to plants/animals. You'll be supported by RSPB ecologists to ensure they deliver impact for nature. We want our reserves to be connected to the landscapes.

At Dungeness you'll help us transform the visitor experience.

Dungeness is home to a range of animals/plants. Dungeness is one of the most biodiverse sites in the UK, while Lydden Valley, a new reserve that has been restored in the last two years thanks to a £1.2m Wetland Improvement grant, provides wetland habitats with a population of beavers.

Your role

Developing/leading the RSPB's vision for Dungeness and Lydden Valley. Over the next five years, this will focus on the following key work areas:

  • Designing/Implementing a new vision for visitors at Dungeness, seeking to overhaul and refresh our infrastructure/innovate to engage with audiences.
  • Completing the delivery of our reserve at Lydden Valley, working out how to get the best for nature out of the habitats
  • Restoring wetland habitat at Dungeness.
  • Leading the acquisition of new land to extend the reserves/working with partners to deliver landscape-scale conservation.

Leading the reserve team/volunteers, ensuring they are inspired, have clarity of purpose, are safe and have what they need to do their jobs.

Delivering key elements of reserves management; budgeting, health and safety, compliance, management planning etc.

We're looking for people with the following skills and experience;
