1950 hours per annum

£20,721 per annum

This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year

The South Lakes encompasses the varied areas of Hawkshead, Coniston & Little Langdale with some of the most varied valleys in the World Heritage Site of the Lake district. The area is a vibrant tourist destination with many attractions from traditional villages and small villages and historic buildings.

The role is a key member of the team, being the operational lead for the Coniston & Little Langdale areas of the portfolio. No two days are the same. Although the main focus is on delivering the practical works to help deliver our ambitious Nature plans, as well a keeping the general maintenance up to the high standards we expect, there will plenty of scope to get involved in many other aspects our ranger team are involved in. Volunteers play an important part in helping us deliver our work, so we would expect you to be involved in their supervision.

We’re looking for someone

  • Looking for the next step in their career in the ranger tea
  • A passion for nature conservation and the benefits it brings
  • Ideally good Conservation skills in traditional crafts such as drystone walling, hedgelaying, as well as fencing and gate hanging.
  • Organised and able to juggle multiple tasks at once and prioritise as necessary
  • A team player with an understanding of volunteer supervision
  • Ideally an understanding of Environmental schemes
