Life Skills Tutor

Are you a motivated person with a passion for delivery learning and working on a farm?

We are looking for a permanent, part-time Life Skills Tutor (non accredited) to join our team working within our Farm Life Skills Service.

Working with the Life Skills Coordinator, you will support the development of planned learning and training for service users. You will help them to achieve their learning requirements and/or aspirations.

Canterbury Oast Trust provides quality development opportunities for adults with learning disabilities in a variety of vocational subjects and settings across Kent and East Sussex. The Trust operates various Life Skills Projects where they can develop their skills in a supportive real life setting.

About you

This role is based at The Rare Breeds Centre, Woodchurch.

As a Life Skills Tutor you will ideally have :

  • experience of teaching/training and of designing, delivering and evaluating learning sessions
  • a good agricultural knowledge and a range of practical farm working skills
  • experience of supporting adults with a learning disability
  • a vocational qualification relevant to the service
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Role

This Life Skills Service is based at The Rare Breeds Centre.

Life Skills Tutor responsibilities will amongst other duties include the following:

  • The design, delivery and evaluation of planned learning and training to service users
  • Evaluating the progress of service users and providing developmental feedback tailored to the needs of individual service users
  • Ensuring assessments and progress meet the requirements of external verification
  • Evaluating learning sessions, what has gone well and recording how sessions might be improved in future


  • 35 hours per week (Mon - Fri)

Pay and Benefits

  • Annual Salary (pro-rata): £16,380 p.a.
  • 22 days annual leave plus statutory bank holidays [Pro-rata for part time hrs]; Additional annual leave for 3,4 and 5 years continuous service
