Working within our Community and Leisure team you will help guide the day to day management of our nature reserves and green spaces throughout the borough, and assist with the delivery of the Council's Climate Emergency Action Plan. You will be responsible for writing, implementing and monitoring the effects of site management plans.
We are looking for someone with knowledge and understanding of ecological issues, legislation and policies. Having an ecological/countryside management qualification is therefore essential for this role. Your ecological knowledge will be matched with your enthusiasm and commitment to lead practical volunteer work parties with the community as well as being able to inspire schools, universities and the local community to understand the importance of nature conservation. You will also need to be happy to manage our livestock which graze on some of our sites.
You will need to be confident in communicating with a variety of stakeholders, including contractors. You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of practical terrestrial and aquatic habitat management and ecological surveys. The ideal candidate will also have previous experience of leading both volunteer and school groups.
In return we offer a number of benefits including generous annual leave, the option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme. Full details of all benefits can be found on our website Employee Benefits | Test Valley Borough Council
