Salary: £28,860 (pro-rata)
Hours per week: 12 hours
Position: Employed, part-time (self-employed considered)
Location: Three Hagges Woodmeadow, near Escrick, York
Reporting to: Woodmeadow Officer
Responsible for: Woodmeadow Enhancement Team

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced person capable of working closely with the senior management team in managing, developing and maintaining Three Hagges Woodmeadow, as well as supporting and organising tasks for the Woodmeadow Enhancement Team in delivering the site's management plan. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the site's management plan, as well as carrying out the monitoring and research that underpins the evidence-base for establishing woodmeadows elsewhere. This position is offered as a part-time post for 12 hours a week, with a six-month probation period. You will work at Three Hagges Woodmeadow, Escrick, near York. There may be opportunities for extra hours and flexible working.

Woodmeadow Trust is a pioneering Yorkshire charity taking practical action for nature and people by creating woodmeadow habitat and inspiring others to establish and look after these exceptional habitats. In the next five years we will continue our existing work in developing our exemplar flagship site, Three Hagges Woodmeadow, maximising opportunities for children's education, building the local community, and undertaking scientific monitoring and research. We are already using our flagship site to inspire and support others to create woodmeadows across the UK - our ambition is to encourage the creation of 50 new woodmeadows over the next 4 years and ultimately to have a woodmeadow in every parish.

Qualifications and skills

To be successful in this role you will ideally have a relevant degree or equivalent experience as well as a proven track record of undertaking practical habitat creation and management with teams of volunteers, preferably in woodlands or meadows. Experience of biological surveying and monitoring and data management skills, etc. would be an advantage. Because a large part of your role will be working with volunteers - the Woodmeadow Enhancement Team - experience of managing risks, compliance and health and safety on sites, and communication and leadership skills will be important.

Woodmeadow Trust is committed to the promotion of equality and diversity in all aspects of its work.
