Honiton & Exmouth
East Devon is independently recognised as an outstanding place and so it follows that its council must also strive to be outstanding. Everything we do is aimed at ensuring that East Devon is a place that people want to live in, work in, visit and enjoy. Our ambition is to be an outstanding council which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment for East Devon, now and for future generations.
About the role
Working within a beautiful part of the South West you will be responsible for handling tree preservation orders and ensuring compliance with legislation. East Devon is heavily wooded with a wonderful array of ancient and veteran trees - an arboriculturalist’s paradise – and the role will entail safeguarding the integrity of trees within Conservation Areas and on development sites, requiring integrated working with our Landscape Officer. You will also provide advice and guidance to other Council services and Elected Members on arboricultural matters.
We are looking for someone who has an enthusiasm for identifying, inspecting and recording the condition of trees, and a sound knowledge of tree species and characteristics. You must hold a recognised qualification in arboriculture and have practical experience in tree inspection and management. We need you to be well organised and a good communicator. You must also be able to work independently and hold a valid driving licence (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act), as the role involves attending site inspections throughout the district.
Closing date: midnight on 9 November 2020.
