THE ROLE
The 2 x Estate Managers will assist in leading the management of our regional woodland estate and ensure that it is managed to the highest professional standards in accordance with the Woodland Trust’s management approach, contributing to the Trust’s corporate objectives, including retention of our FSC status. Our woods are to be protected, their biodiversity conserved and significant public benefits delivered through a budgeted work programme, the delivery of key functional responsibilities and the effective line management of our people.

A significant focus of this role is to inspire, motivate and lead a team, delivering the true potential of the estate, communicating and sharing our vision and delivering high quality interventions that underpin and sustain the future of the estate. We are recruiting 2 full time estate managers that will work closely together to manage one team of woodland site managers across the region. Each estate manager will be responsible for 4 site managers as well as a region-wide portfolio.

THE CANDIDATE
An inspiring leader with experience managing people, you’ll be results driven, motivated and commercially aware, able to deliver value for money from all operations and understand the need to balance the organisational benefits of operations against the cost of their delivery. You will understand the importance of collaborative working to create and sustain effective working relationships
You’ll have experience managing complex programmes of work, demonstrating vision and attention to detail, along with a good working knowledge of forestry and land management practices, allowing you to understand and engage with landowners and their representatives. You’ll be able to develop and manage effective partnerships that deliver significant outcomes for the organisation.
