Ecological Data Officer
The Wolseley Centre, Wolseley Bridge, ST17 0WT
Permanent/Fixed Term/Sessional: Permanent full-time (35 hrs per week)
£20,558 - £23,982 per annum

We are currently looking for an Ecological Data Officer to join our small Local Environmental Records Centre (LERC) team hosted by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

About You.

You will have some knowledge and experience of data management, in particular the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to manipulate and interrogate a range of spatial data and the ability to tailor the presentation of this information to a range of audiences.

You will also have some experience of working with large datasets and data management and a

working knowledge of UK habitats and classification systems e.g. Phase 1, National Vegetation Classification (NVC), UKHAB etc. and species designations e.g. NERC act, Red data lists and Wildlife and Countryside Act.

Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads are paramount as well as

good IT skills and competency in the use of Microsoft Office packages. Knowledge of Health & Safety issues in relation to carrying out field work in isolated locations.

About the Role.

The role will involve assisting with the day-to-day operation of the ecological records centre, management and maintenance of a range of ecological datasets and communicating with a range of clients and stakeholders in Staffordshire. Additionally, the post holder will also be expected to assist with ongoing GIS mapping utilising the ecological data held by the LERC to create a strategic Nature Recovery Network (NRN) vision for the county.
