This is an apprenticeship type role
This is a new post at Bradgate Park Trust in Leicestershire. Comprised of 1,200 acres of incredibly unique landscape, it is one of the finest remaining examples of ancient parkland in Leicestershire. With a diverse range of habitats and a significant collection of ancient oaks, the Park is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its ecological, geological, and archaeological significance to the local area.
With 16 miles of walls to repair, the Trust is working in with the Lottery-funded Charnwood Landscape Partnership to create a 2-year Stone Waller Apprentice position.
The job will be hosted by and based at Bradgate Park Trust but will work on sites across the Charnwood Forest Geopark area during the first 2 years. The successful candidate will receive training, working their way through Levels 1, 2 and 3 of the DSWA (Dry Stone Wall Association) Craft Certification Scheme. They will also be trained in lime-mortar walling.
At the end of the 2-year period, the post-holder may have the opportunity to be considered for a permanent position following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
